Cougars Sign Pitcher in Early Signing Period

Right handed pitcher Taylor Pica has been announced as the latest addition to Greg Appleton's 2010 early signing class. "We are extremely excited to have signed Taylor in the early signing period as he is a pitcher who has really come on late this fall and we feel like his best pitching days are still ahead of him" says Appleton. Pica played last season for the Cougars of Newnan High School and Coach Kenny Morris. He helped Newnan to a 27-6 record and a visit to the 3rd round of the 5A State Playoffs. "Taylor is some what of a sleeper and has only been on our radar the past couple of weeks. However, during this time he has shown a very live arm with good movement and an outstanding breaking ball. From what we have seen out of Taylor thus far, he has the potential to turn out to be a very good pitcher at Columbus State" added Appleton.  ... full story

COUGAR OF THE WEEK

Cougar men's basketball player Nick Gagnon has earned this week's Cougar Athlete of the Week honor. The senior from nearby Lanett, Ala., has been a behind-the-scenes role player for the Cougars this season, but has performed extremely well. In the two games this week, he averaged 10.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per outing, helping the Cougars to two wins. One of those wins came against then #2 Valdosta State on the road as Gagnon went 4-6 from the floor with six rebounds in 33 minutes of floor time.
