Davidson Adds Administrative Duties; Huskisson Replaces 'Acting' Title with 'Interim'

Columbus, GA - Columbus State University athletic director Jay Sparks announced this week that two department employees will have slightly different titles for the coming 2008-09 school year. Denisha Davidson and Brad Huskisson will add to or change their current titles. Davidson, in addition to her duties as assistant women's basketball coach, will become the school's senior woman administrator (SWA), while Huskisson - the acting head softball coach since Tiffany Tootle's departure - will now become the interim head coach for the Lady Cougar program.

Davidson took over the Student Athlete Advisory Committee a year ago and will keep that responsibility as she steps into the realm of athletic administration. While her primary focus will be women's sports, she will work closely with all 10 sports in the CSU program and will serve as a liaison between student-athletes and the administration. She will assist in all aspects of the overall operation of the athletic department, as well.

"I look forward to taking on more responsibility and working with the other administrators in our department," said Davidson. "I am eager to learn as much as I can in this new position and to improve myself in this profession."

"I will get to see another side of athletics instead of only seeing the coaching side, and I hopefully will be able to provide some input into making an already tremendous program even better. I enjoy working with the SAAC and look forward to continuing what we have started with that organization, and I also look forward to getting more involved in the other sports we offer at CSU. I am very excited about this opportunity," she added.

Huskisson served as acting head coach beginning in mid-March and led the Lady Cougars to an 11-7 mark over the season's finaly 18 games, narrowly missing a berth in NCAA post-season play. The team won four straight contests in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament and a Francis Marion late comeback prevented a third straight berth in the tourney's championship game. He will begin his second stint as a collegiate head coach, having served in that capacity at Brescia College in his native Kentucky.

"I am honored that the CSU administration has seen fit to allow me to remain as interim head coach," said Huskisson. "We will take this year and continue to make CSU softball the absolute best it can be. I appreciate the opportunity to lead an already great program and will do my best to make sure we improve and give our fans the level of play they are accustomed to."

"We will hit the ground running in the fall and treat this like any other season. We have some new kids coming in that will fill some voids left by players we lost. Our focal point this year will be power hitting and scoring runs, but we will also put a strong emphasis on pitching and defense. I am looking forward to getting started and seeing what this year brings," he added.

CSU will welcome its athletes back to campus in August, with soccer and cross country getting the new athletic year off and running later in that same month.
